How to delete your account
Option 1: In the app
- Open Skene
- Go to Settings (gear icon in the top right)
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account
- Confirm the deletion
Option 2: Via web
- Go to accounts.skene.life
- Sign in with the same method you used to create your account
- Navigate to account settings and select Delete Account
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:
- Your profile (name, email, profile picture, status)
- Your activities and event history
- Your uploaded photos
- Your settings and preferences
- Your climbing grade and preference data
- Your follows and other social connections
What is retained
- Messages you sent in conversations with other people are anonymized (the content is removed and disassociated from you) rather than deleted, so the remaining participants' conversation history stays intact. Messages in conversations with no other participants are deleted permanently.
- Reports and moderation records, where retention is required for safety or legal compliance
- Error logs (automatically purged after 90 days)
Processing time
Account deletion is processed immediately. Some cached data may take up to 48 hours to be fully purged from all systems.
